Why arent my analytics numbers in OneUp exactly the same as what I see on the social network directly?
It's normal for the analytics in OneUp to differ slightly from the analytics shown directly on social networks.
OneUp retrieves analytics using the official APIs provided by each social network. However, social networks don't always make the same data available through their APIs as they display in their own dashboards.
Some common reasons for discrepancies include:
- Different attribution methods — Some social networks attribute engagement to the date it occurred, while others attribute it to the date a post was published. For example, a post published on June 30 may continue receiving engagement throughout July. Depending on how the social network reports the data through its API, that engagement may be counted in either June or July, resulting in differences between reports.
- Different metric calculations — Social networks may calculate metrics differently than what's available through their APIs.
- Data refresh delays — Analytics are not always updated in real time and may take time to sync.
- Time zone differences — Analytics may be grouped into different reporting periods depending on the platform's time zone settings.
- API limitations — Social networks may limit which metrics can be accessed or how much historical data is available.
- Account reconnections — If a social account becomes disconnected, OneUp may be unable to retrieve analytics until the account is reconnected.
In most cases, minor differences are expected and do not indicate a problem with your analytics.
If you notice a significant discrepancy, please contact our support team and include:
- The social account name
- The metric you're comparing
- The date range you're viewing
- Screenshots from both OneUp and the social network
We'll be happy to investigate.
