# First comment in LinkedIn posts

When posting to LinkedIn Profiles or Pages, you can add a first comment to your post:

### Why would I want to add a first comment on my LinkedIn post?
If you want to include a link in your LinkedIn post, many people prefer putting the link in the first comment (rather than the original post). Why? Some people believe that putting a link in your original post will decrease the overall reach of the post, while putting the link in the first comment does not.

And some people prefer kicking off the comments on their LinkedIn post with a comment of their own.
